THE BEST OF BLACK SABBATH

as with any best of / compilation, there is always the debate as to what songs should be here or not. Especially when it's called "Best of". But then, most music fanatics are realistic enough to understand the music industry economics behind such releases.

Having said this, I can't really argue with the choices made here. The only question mark is Evil Woman. Even the slightest Black Sabbath fan could so easily present a solid case for Iron Man to replace it. So if you're really just looking to get the cream of the cream of the crop from this legendary group's first three albums (and let's face it, this is where all the true classics are found), this is the album.

If you can find it. So for the picks made, it's as close to perfect as you can get for compilations.

It's actually not a good idea to buy this compilation as so far the band only released three initial albums which all of them a very good if you love the sound of Black Sabbath. However in some cases you may find it good to have it as completionist if you are a die hard fan. Sweet Leaf from the third album "Master of Reality" is quite interesting for those who love riff-based music unique to Black Sabbath. I like the opening shout even though it's recorded voice. Evil Woman from the first album presents Ozzy's voice in low register notes. It serves like a different style as compared to the first track. Wicked World from the first album sounds differently as you may find a bit of jazzy kind of opening even though it then turns out to be regular Black Sabbath sound. I love this track. Track 5 "Black Sabbath" is another great one. It represents the sound of the band especially with its blues based style and unique sound of guitar. The compilation is concluded with a nice track from Pranoid album.

I am sure people who love classic rock would enjoy this first compilation by Black Sabbath. An excellent compilation.
