TALES FROM SERPENTIA

By this album Tomorrow,s Eve finally is consecrated as one of the most important prog metal bands of this days. As Dream Theater,Symphony X,Shadow Gallery and Andromeda.

Excellent voice i must say . Melodies in the vein Symphony X(but more progressive) and Dream Theater.

May be there is a little involutions for progers lovers.

The later 2 albums were a little more progressive.Most of songs very long(here only the last one is very extended) with a lot of progressive evolution with a more important keyboards participation.

This album is near as good as those 2 but i can feel i little temptation to be searched by a bigger audience.

But is very good to discover here that TE is still strongly immerse in the prog rock music.In comparison i have a doubt with the last works of Symphony X,Dream Theater or Andromeda.

This fourth full length album from German outfit Tomorrow's Eve should appeal to many listeners interested in metal in general and progressive metal in particular.

It's not that good a release though, neither in terms of originality nor compositional strength. The sound and style explored is a simplified version of Dream Theater as they sounded on Awake, dark riff patterns with some aggression, mellow segments thrown in here and there - including a ballad almost a replica of Space Dye Vest at times - where the main difference is less complexity in performance and structure as well as less room for the synths in the soundscape.

The vocals are compelling in a melodramatic manner though, the melodies if not original are easy to get familiar with; and it's a concept album with a dark theme and story told. Many metal fans, especially the younger ones, will probably find this one highly enjoyable.

Tomorrow's Eve's last album 'till present entitled Tales from serpentia - 2008. To me this is a step up from the previous album, in manner of composing. Here they are a little more tide up and more confident in their strengh. The concept behind the album is a real dark one and very actual today in may countries and particular in many families. I would not enter in this concept, who wants to know more, just listen the album, is easier to catch the core like that then somebody tells here in fiew words. Anyway the music offerd here is on the same level with the predecesor, but with a plus on compositions, some of them are real strong, some are mediocre, so the final is in betwen,a 3 star album for me. A good album for sure, but I know better albums fro prog metal from 2008. They combines prog metal with some power metal in places, leaving no much space to keys to do the job, only here and there are some solos, but the ones that are already here are good all the way. The voice of LeMare is a real pleasure to listem is very powerfull and has a particular range in this album, from mellow to rough Le Mar shines here, just listen the The Years Ahead, Succubus and Faces, great. In the final is a near 20 min epic prog metal adventure, but I might say this piece never grab me all the way, is a good one, but is not very intristing overall and a little to long. So I will give as I said 3 stars for this last Tomorrow's Eve album, a good one but nothing special.
