2 stars Ion Dissonance is another one of those technical, relentless metal/core bands. Like the rest of them, these guys can play, but they can't write. I can't get past one of these songs without the desire to switch records. It's obnoxious, tiresome music. There is not one riff, phrase, vocal line (it's a bunch of yelling as is typical of the genre's lower tier) that sticks with me. I love pedantic music; I can even love heavy music. This however is not something I can get into, and I don't see how many other people can enjoy this. The technicality is the only aspect that gets any consideration in their writing. That is not nearly enough to make a good record. For the time being, I'll give it two stars, because it is better than most standard metal and hardcore acts.

4 stars Bruuuuuutal band. Not necessarily what most would consider prog. But regardless they play a very technical style of math/grind with heavy metalcore mixed in. If you appreciate extreme metal then at least give this a shot. For fans of Dillinger Escape Plan.
