(4) "Vida siempre": a kind of prog-blues..., the piano and vocals are awesome... nice guitar and synths solos.***

(5) "Ping-Pong": Instrumental theme. The musicians displays their skills. The inspiration never fail in SJ's instrumentals. Great 'leit motiv' melody. ****

(6) "Mapa de tu amor": I don't like this song very much. This isn't a prog-rock work.**

(7) "Resumen porteño": good song. The keys and voices are great. Amazing harmony. I love this kind of Spinetta's songs.****

(8) "Era de uranio": wow! this piano intro is terrific! ... great talent... The song is intense, emotional. The harmony is complex and intrincate. The melodic line of vocals are difficult. Great theme! *****

(9) "Cola de mono": not bad, but there are better songs.***

The third album from Spinetta Jade keeps the creativity and performance level of the prior albums. This one and Los niños que escriben el cielo are the best albums from Spinetta's combo. That is what I think.

The album is rich with the 80's musical influence. But in hands of Luis Alberto Spinetta, that influence is converted in something absolutely unique. Every instrument fits in his music to reach a very pleasant kind of beauty. Here you won't find the strength of Invisible albums, but a jazzy softness directed in weir metrics. We have to remark the piano work and tha bass lines. Lyrics and music here are linked to Spinetta's memories about his birth town and the critical political situation of his country in those years (80's). So, the music lines are melancholic but sharp and complex at the same time.

The best songs IMHO are: Viaje y epílogo, Era de Uranio, Resumen porteño and Bajo Belgrano. The remaining ones are nice but, in contrast, not so fantastic.

Spinetta Jade is Luis Alberto Spinetta's jazziest group. The line-up on this album is a quartet of guitar, bass, drums and 80s keyboards. Bajo Belgrano leaves the sophisticated fusion of previous albums and moves onto a simpler, even more melodic fusion with a big emphasize on the keyboards in which Spinetta's lovely guitar is barely heard, though his poetic lyrics are still present fortunately.

The album has from up-lifting songs like 'Cancion del Bajo Belgrano', 'Cola de Mono' and 'Mapa de tu Amor' full of synths and very good bass work, to emotional songs like 'Resumen Porteño', 'Maribel Se Durmio' and 'Vida Siempre' with fantastic poetic lyrics and great vocal expression from Spinetta. Then there's the one instrumental called 'Ping Pong', it has an addictive rhythm and good synth work, plus a bass solo to be delighted with. The album concludes with 'Viaje y Epilogo', which evolves from a beautiful piano piece to a more moving second half with great bass work and where showcases Spinetta's incredible range of voice.

The album, as I remarked on the review of the songs, has a very good mixture of moods. This giving it a very pleasant listen throughout the whole album. This is not an album where you can hear virtuosity or complexity, Bajo Belgrano is very melodic and sentimental where you really feel the music running through your veins, full of energy, which in some cases you want to stand up and dance the hell out of it.

Fans of melodic and friendly jazz rock are to be highly rewarded with this, Bajo Belgrano reminds me at times of Allan Holdsworth's 80s releases with the great sense of melody. Also, if you're able to understand spanish and you're a lyric fan, make sure to check this out or any of the other works by L.A. Spinetta.

4 stars: one of Argentina's most emotional albums and definitely one my favorites from my country alongside the proggier Peliculas by La Maquina de Hacer Pajaros. While musically it's not extremely original nor demanding, it's such a delightful album that I can't not recommend you this if you're searching for Latin American gems.

This is the third release from Spinetta Jade and here we can recognize a slight change in sound ending up in more radio oriented songs tan their previous albums and a more lyrical approach as well. The record contains shorter songs and while the performance from the musicians is still good, is not up to the previous albums standards. The only standout track from a musical perspective being the instrumental Ping Pong.

That being said, the record still shows some fine singing by Luis Alberto Spinetta and if you have some understanding of Spanish you should check the lyrics in songs like "Resumen Porteño" or "Vida Siempre" since those are some of the best L.A Spinetta has ever written.

In the end, that's some of the few things that can be appreciated on this record since it's less exiting than the previous records while keeping the same pop jazz style found on "Los Niños que escriben en el cielo". I can only recommend this record to Spinetta's completionists, but if this is your first record from this artist you will feel very disappointed.
