CLOSE TO THE EDGE

Of all the 70s prog milestones, Yes was never one of my favorite bands. It's one of those bands everybody seems to dig but that never really appealed to me. But it is unfair to judge this record solely on personal experience and I must admit there is definitely excellent musicianship in there. However, compared to many other "great" prog albums, I could not exactly hum the air of one of the songs...simply because I never found this album to be inspirational and moving. Not as cohesive as a work of art. Enjoyable none the less...don't let this review stop you from buying the record! You might find the masterpiece you are looking for. If it's in there I cannot say for it has always eluded me...
