PUNGENT EFFULGENT

This was the album that really did it for me. This was my introduction to OT. Completely blew me away and finally expanded my prog musical taste out of the 70's. This is where the song structures, production, musicianship and even album art came together. Yes it's still not hands down their best but definitely in contention. Space rock guitars, bubbling and screaming synths, floating flutes, tribal drums and solid conventional drums drive this album. Oh and Roly Wynn's expert bass. PE starts off with a delayed guitar that just builds and builds int a space rock explosion.

O-I is a remake of one of their earlier works and is much improved due to Merv Peplar's drums and the recording quality.

Three great mellow tracks follow with The Domes of G'Bal being IMO the best of the three.

Ayuverdic is a monster track highlighted by Roly Wynn's bass in the early going followed by a build up with some great synthesizer work followed by a cool reggae jam that goes on a little too long.

Kick Muck picks up the pace with carefully executed guitar sped up and then drops you off at the end. This is the same version that is on SGW minus the atmospheric ending.

Agog in the either takes you into some wild rainforest and Wrelch ends things with a great space jam. Highly recommended and a great OT album to start.
