Benefit stands now and will always stand (up!) as one of my favorite albums of Jethro Tull. Its absolutely dark, sober and strangely escapist. Probably one of the best first songs that set the mood for the entire album may be found here. "With you there to help me", with introspective lyrics that are agravated by the reverted piano and flute, made you know exactly what will follow in the next 40min.Benefit's flaw may be its lenght with the lack of variety, as Stand Up clearly has. But there are so great moments in individual songs that, by the time you get to "Socity you're a woman", you feel completely rewarded. A good glass of wine or whisky, sitting alone somewhere watching the rain is probably the best way to hear this album. A good adition to anyones library.
