4 stars Iron Butterfly's biggest achievement.

First half offers a a nice set of pure flower power rock tunes. All good songs with 'Flowers And Beads' being the most pop oriented while 'My Mirage' is something I could (for some reason) imagine a grunge band like Alice In Chains covering.

Of course the main attraction here is the mammoth 17-minute 'In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida'. Pure psychedelic insanity and for someone who'd never heard of the band before, after listening to the first half, flipping over the record must have been a shock.

Highly recommended purchase. Essential to any fan of 60's psychedelic rock but is it an essential part of anyone's prog collection? Although I'm not an expert, I would say no. But a damn fine addition nonetheless.
