4 stars One of the best Italian bands was Aton's. The name made me curious about their music, so I bought Caccia grossa (could be translated as Big hunt) without having heard any of their music. In a review I had read the music was captivating, but that's not quite the truth. Singer, guitar player and main composer Pietro Ratto knows also how to rock. Nevertheless he also creates beatiful guitar chords, like in La torre tradita. The vocals are not the best part of the album, Pietro's voice can sometimes sound a bit theatrical. He should avoid the higher notes! The other songs I like best are the title track, Buio (listen to the MP3 track on this site), Ombre di musica and L'Appuntamento. The longest track clocks over 12 minutes (with an incredibe long title), but it can't keep my attention all the time. Believe it or not, but I miss Pietro's voice. Caccia grossa is not the best Aton's album (I prefer A.I. 2984), but certainly worth listening to. The art work is also nice, a naive colourful painting about hunting. A naked mermaid gets a spear in her heart by a half man, half animal creature. I don't think she survived this attack. It may be very difficult to find this cd, because it was released on Comtenpo Records and that company went bankrupt. I give it 4 stars, because every time I listen to Aton's I feel happy.
