Tool's more or less "breakthrough" album. This got them on the board and made them a
recognizeable band. That being said, this album is very unpolished and not the
masterpiece that Aenima and Lateralus are. The sounds here are very heavy, and there are a lot of very dark sounds. This is more or less an album with a depressing sound to it. That being said, the album is very dull to me. Sober is one of the most overrated and uninteresting songs in the metal genre, right up there with Enter Sandman as down right dull. This album helped Tool gain an audience for what was to be their magnum opus, Aenima. This album has a few strong points, but overall it lacks the "it" factor of a good prog album and later Tool albums.
