2 stars I fail to see any direction in this album, the music wanders aimlessly and directionless. It looks like the loss of Syd Barret as main writer has forced the band to come up with a substitute for his style of writing instead of remaining closer to their own identity as songwriters. Or maybe Roger Waters and consorts are still in the proces of becoming real songwriters. Anyway this is not a good follow-up to their debut. Let there be more light, set the controls. and jugband blues are somewhat amusing, and from A saucerful of secrets there's a great live version available on Ummagumma. But this album does nothing for me. And I can't rate it any higher than two stars.
