4 stars Was VdGG the first band to introduce World Music (i.e. Reggae) to the world of Progessive Music, a mere 10 years before King Crimson added some African Discipline? And does anybody really care as long as the outcome is slightly off of simply phenomenal? And while we are in 'off' Prog territoray Hammill's guitar is indeed well in the regions of Punk, a fresh musical air much needed in the status quo of Progressive Music at that time, but then again Mr pH was alwys very much a visionary and I invite anybody to listen to his solo output since then - Progressive Music in progression. As for the album itself though not quite the song-writing success and on the same epic scale as the previous 'Still Life' album it still is a marvellous piece of musical and lyrical innovation and creativity.
