BURNIN' RED IVANHOE

To endorse Mr Smith's comments on this subtley sublime album I would add that their other albums from that era - W.W.W. from 1971 surprisingly, and their semi-live collaboration with Danish poet Poul Dissing 6 Elephantskovaviser from the same year- show that this band combined the late 60s psychedelic free-form style with a discipined jazz tradition, mixing electronic sounds from the extremes of the sonic palette with the purest and simplest acoustic - trombone, harp, sax, as well as straight Telecaster. And they are still playing ome of these songs with the same deft touch of surreal extremity!
