THE BEST OF KAYAK

Dutch masters Kayak are one of my favourite bands, but compilation CD's are not the way to get to know them. And even amongst the compilation CD's, this one stands out for its lack of appeal. Partially this is because the original album version of the CD was released in the mid seventies, and therefore only contains material from their first albums. Even so, the choice of material is fully based on their hit singles and more radio friendly tunes (prog lite) rather than the good prog stuff they turned out especially on their first two albums. If you do want a compilation CD, look at any of the other ones listed, to get a far superior overview. I would recommend though to directly go to their best prog efforts, which are Merlin-Bard of the unseen and the first two albums, which can be bought in a cheap double CD set.
