5 stars after years i again listened to that album from an old cassette in the car. I remembered that I had somehow ranked it as not as good as previous VDGG albums. But I was wrong, it is fantastic and unique. You do not find here long compositions a'la plague, you do not find here profound journeys into dark sides of human soul. You rather find experimental yet inventory music, fresh and pulsing. at one moment full of lyricism and at the very next second exploding. The unique thing here is violin. I like violin in all music ph has done in his solo albums (the peak is something about ysabel in Out of water played by Stuart Gordon). But to hear violin with VDGG is a precious thing. The live album Vital Live is one, this album is the second you can hear graham smith on violin. It is really perfectly fitting to the sound. All musicians are great. they fill as one the empty space of silence. no exhibitions, just a pure labour of music. PH is at his peak here, singing absolutely fantastic. I feel less introvert tones here when compared to his solo works. But more fun definitely. It is really unique album. as each one they have produced so far. including the recent present. masterpiece.
