3 stars Shine on You crazy Diamond

I don't understand why this album is so criticaly acclaimed. Many consider this album to be the magnum opus of Pink Floyd. I don't think so.

The first side opens with the first five parts of Shine on You Crazy Diamond. It start with four minutes of pure unexitement where nothing happens. But after these four minutes, when the guitar enters, the song starts to be less boring and more heartfelt. 3.5/5

If there is a song where do you waste your time, it is surly Welcome to the Machine. Seven minutes of nonelaborate songwriting with two chords where the only strong point is the lyrics, like always. 1.5/5

Ahhhh, the second side. Much better songwriting. This side starts with Have a Cigar. A song with a nice groove. 3.5/5 Wish You Were Here. Now that's what I call a good pop song. Very heartfelt and very emotionnal singing from David Gilmour. 4/5

And a great closer for this album are the final four parts of Shine on You Crazy Diamond. Better instrumentation, less boring and much better songwriting. That's I wanted the first part to be. 4.5/5

To conclude my review, The first side is non-essential and the second side is a good prog addition to any fan of progressive.
