4 stars This is the earliest concert recording Phish has officially released live. Recorded in 1989, you'll hear mostly songs from Junta, which is their best studio album in my opinion. This is a very concert, and you can tell that early on these guys were masters live, despite the small audience they had at the time. It's also amazing how long these guys would play. They only had one album officially released, yet they managed to put on shows that lasted several hours and playing songs that most of the audience never heard before. Still, it's not as polished as some of their later live discs. Nevertheless, there are quite a bit of great songs here that were never released on their studio albums, and you'll hear some excellent versions of songs from their unreleased concept album, "The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday". For that reason, this live album is worth picking up, especially if you're a fan of early Phish.
