5 stars Herbie's THRUST is a perfect example of how European-leaning, Anglo-centric and downright American-loathing the reviewers on this site can be. It would just *KILL* some of these reviewers to give this landmark recording a so-called "masterpiece" score.

If Herbie's Hancock is not a FIVE STAR effort in the world of progressive music, then please tell me what is? Oh, of course! Anything Anglo or European qualifies, immediately! Right, I forgot who the audience is.

That said, the music on this record is: inspired, mind blowing, cosmic, spiritual, profound, sublime, ultra-technical, super-funky, masterfully improvised, expertly written, loosely orchestrated, expertly composed, ear-popping heavy, heart-touching soft, body-grooving, mind calming and above all, HERBIE HANCOCK!

Unless you're hung up on massively distorted electric guitars and can't listen past anything devoid of power chords, I see no reason why you, too, wouldn't agree that this record is a MASTERPIECE of the highest order.
