3 stars Threshold is one of the best progmetal bands around, with a distict own sound, provided by the duo-guitar playing of Karl Groom and Nick Midson and the keyboard-orchestration by Richard West. On this debut album however the real power of the band is still to be found. Except for the singing by Damian there's little really excitening happening, I find most songs boring and I never listen to the album in full. The drumming is poor. There is some light however. The songs "Sanity's End", "Paradox", "Surface To Air", and "Mother Earth" are quite good (that's 50% of the album) These songs alone make the album worth buying. But the best of Threshold is yet to come in the form of "Clone" and "Hypothetical". This album is for fans of Threshold, if you haven't heard them yet, you better start with Clone or Hypothetical.
