4 stars I've waited for this! The reason why is that I'm very fond of the mature side of D.G. I was curious about how this would sound like, and I'm glad to hear that this has an own identity - quite far away from Floyd. It's very soft and laid-back, for my taste it soon gets a little too soft at times. Track 4 "Take a Breath" is one of the "Floyd-ish" tracks (excuse the bad word) in its mood. Another resemblance to Floyd is the mellow saxophones on top of monotonous atmospheric synths (track 5 "Red Sky at Night"). What's then making this own identity? Well, primarily it's the acoustic parts that's making it mark a new direction, or an "own" direction. The guitar play is more blues than space, and it's quite unpretentious compared to what we've gotten used to through the years. If you're hoping for big and astonishing arrangements, you will probably be disappointed. But the way I see it, this feels real and mature, and that's what I was hoping it would be! I think it's refreshing to hear Gilmour do this mellow and undramatic music.
