1 stars So this is Starcastle? For years i'd read about this "amazing" band, and was excited to discover the "Fountains Of Light" cd at a record fair. By halfway through the album my excitement had dissipated and depression was setting in. What a disappointment. The music was skillfully executed for sure, the vocals were (technically) superb, but the whole was much much less than the seperate parts. The whole album is a mess, the music is pleasant enough, if uninspired. Imagine a bargain basement YES covers band, playing a set of mid '70s STYX songs, with JON ANDERSON huffing helium and caterwauling over the top, yes, it's that bad. Whilst initially fascinating in a car crash fashion, the "appeal" soon fades and you're left wishing you'd spent more wisely. The singers voice is the most single annoying sound this side of a dentists drill, and if forced to choose between the dentist and sitting through this album again, i'll take root canal every time. Find a copy of the first CAPTAIN BEYOND album instead, your dentist wont thank you, but your ears will. AVOID!
