4 stars In 1975 Yes decided to give the band time to make their own solo albums. Jon Anderson came up with Olias of Sunhillow, Chris Squire wrote Fish out of Water, Rick Wakeman wrote The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and Steve Howe came up with the Steve Howe Album.

Of all the Steve Howe albums I have it is clear that this one, The Steve Howe album is the best in terms of its progressiveness. It is mostly instrumental but there are two songs with vocals and they are All's a chord and Look over your shoulder which features the exceptional singer Clair Hamil. Many of the songs include backing and there are a few solos by Howe. The highlights of the album are Look Over Your Shoulder and Diary of a Man Who Vanished which features a nice riff. This album is a very good album to have in your collection but it is not essential, unless you really like art rock. If you do like this then I highly recommend Not Necessarily Acoustic and Spectrum, also Steve Hackett is similar and probably better than Steve Howe when it comes to solo works so it is worth checking out some of his stuff as well.
