5 stars With no disrespect intended to Supertramp's 1973 release "Crime Of The Century" or 1979's "Breakfast In America," 1977's "Even In The Quietest Moments" may well be Supertramp's best, most accomplished album. With its consistently inviting, somewhat delicate textures, it's not as rockin' a record as its more widely praised peers, but for profound substance and artistic brilliance, it is unsurpassed. All seven of its tracks are remarkable, thoughtful constructions; highlights include the mega-smash "Give A Little Bit," the beautifully plaintive title track, the pulsing rock energy of "Babaji," and the 11-minute epic masterpiece "Fool's Overture," which may be the best song in the entire repertoire of these art-pop superstars. For more introspective-leaning listeners of prog-pop or classic rock, it is a deeply memorable, addictively compelling listen. Do not overlook it.

The fine remastering on this newly released reissue makes some difference in its impact, but for most fans, it is not clear that the improved sonics merit upgrading one's original CD to this new version. There are no bonus tracks on this reissue.
