5 stars First as an intro. Why is Deep Purple listed on this web site!? This isn't Prog! This is heavy rock (Not heavy Metal either) this being said, there is not too many "GREAT" live album that as been recorded: 1979 UFO's Strangers in the Night and 1978 Thin Lizzy's Live and Dangerous are just 2 that as to be mentioned. This is ONE for the record books.

Here is a band is at the peak of their career IMHO and by just listening to the track Lazy you understand immediately what I mean. Also this line-up is the only Deep Purple for me. Do I sound bias? Dawn right I am! When you put the needle on the 1 track i.e. Highway Star (I'm from the vinyl generation but I also own the 1998 release 2 CD Remastered Edition. The 2nd CD as 3 extra tracks: Black Night, Speed King and Lucille) you feel the energy right through your bones.

I wish I had been there!! All the "imperfections" of a Rock Concerts are present: missed cues, feedbacks, to much bass (on certain tracks) BUT the level of energy is absolutely incredible. This is Live music at is best. It's a must in ANY record collection.
