5 stars The Divine Wings of Tragedy is heavy all right, but maybe it is too heavy. Don't get me wrong I like loud music but I just think that The Divine Wings of Tragedy would have been better if it wasn't as heavy with the guitar work. Well that's the negativity out of the way now to the good stuff- The Divine Wings of Tragedy was the real turning point for symphony X, granted The Damnation Game was good but in The Divine Wings of Tragedy we see the band focus more on Mythology than classical elements though there are still classical elements present in the music.

Highlights: The Accolade, Pharaoh, the Eyes of Medusa and to a lesser extent The Divine Wings of Tragedy which I felt was a bit bombastic.

I really enjoy this album but in my mind it is just a prelude to the real stuff like Twilight in Olympus, The Odyssey and V: The New Mythology Suite which has proved to be some of the best albums in the prog metal genre. I would recommend this album to all prog fans, not just the metal fans but everyone should have a taste of symphony X which has a very bright future ahead of them. Overall four and a half stars.
