3 stars For relaxation purposes only!

This is my second review of Klaus Schulze. The first one was the Blackdance, which did really convinced me of the talent and devotion of this master in synths. This second record was a bit of a drawback in my opinion. It's less dark and more neutral in it's sounds. There are no radical shifts in sounds, but only subtle additions of sounds.

The first composition "Velvet Voyage" is mainly build on some spacy echoes. In the beginning they are a bit dark, but soon will turn to a more neutral sound. Some bassnotes are added now and then and easy keytunes. There does not happen so much and I cannot find all the different parts of this composition. All the sounds are indirect: a bit in the background. I would have liked to have some more direct sound. As I've wrote in my title: this composition is for relaxation purposes only. Otherwise it's a bit booring. Don't expect any surprises on this side.

The second composition "Crystal Lake" does remind me of the Tubular Bells of Mike Oldfield. Some beautifull sounding bells are heard and form the basis of this track. All these nice tinglings form a wonderfull and colourfull landscape. This composition has a lot more to offer in progression then the previous one. Still, it's a bit stretched.

In my opinion the second composition is much better then the first one and contains some nice moods. No hypnotic drones on this record; just some spacy effect and beautifull tinglings.
