2 stars In contrast with the previous KC line-up, this one became less interesting through the years (at least the studio albums). 'Discipline' was a master album, then 'Beat' wasn't at the same level, but finally '3 of a perfect pair' became the most commercial album KC hed ever done. I can't listen to 'Model man' and 'Sleepless'. I don't feel many differences between 'Model man' and the worst 80's Queen works (compare with some 'Hot space' tracks), and 'Sleepless' is the most simple that one can listen from KC. When I got '3OAPP' and listened to, it meant nothing to me: a commercial side and a "rare" side... what's this? One side for "common" 80's fans and and the other side for the older ones? Very stupid. I cannot recognise Crimson's spirit in most of the songs, like 'Man with an open heart'; they don't leave any space to improvisation... what's KC without improvisation? If you listen to 'Absent lovers' and compare it to any previous concert, they would sound exactly the same; only 'Industry' can change day by day. So I understand why Robert broke this lineup that year. Why don't we have any live versions of 'Nuages'? Did they play it live? If not, it was the first time KC only played the most successful songs to satisfy big audiences instead of experimenting. In my opinion, better buying the 'Discipline' album, very fresh and with new ideas if we compare it with the 'Red' era. Also, the 'Beat' album contains some good studio work (Sartori in Tangier, Waiting man, Neurotica, Requiem), most of which became much better on stage. If I had to choose which 80's KC album to get, my favourites are "Discipline", "Live in Philadelphia" and "Live in Berkeley". But all KC concerts have some interesting moments...
