Eloy's rather needless sequel to their very popular Ocean manages to be a competent enough blend of the brand of space rock they played in the late 1970s with the production values and a few musical trends of late 1990s prog - not to the extent that it sounds like Eloy going all Porcupine Tree, but enough to update their sound a little and make this album a credible step up musically from The Tides Return Forever. Unfortunately, one musical feature of their 1970s work is still present - Frank Bornemann's vocals, which are delivered almost like a narrative and which I've never warmed to.
