5 stars At the moment of this writing, this is #44 on the top 100 list. I must say, in my opinion that's pretty disgraceful.

Jerusalem - A nice, flashy way to open the album. They've opened albums much better in the past, but this is still good. I wish it was longer, though. 8/10.

Tocatta - The first time I heard this, I nearly fell out of my seat. This hilariously dissonant adaptation is quite the piece of music and the second best reason to get ahold of this album. Beautiful. 10/10.

Still you turn me on - I believe this to be the best of the Lake ballads, mostly because Emerson tries to come in and dominate it whenever he can, unlike on most of the other ballads. This isn't as bad as the crowd would have you believe. Well worthy of its inclusion here. 8/10.

Benny the bouncer - This one seems to be the one that prevents more five star ratings. I think it's a fun little song. Not awesome, but still good enough for me. Don't give Benny a cold meat pie, guys. Don't bury a hatcher in his head either. 7/10.

Karn evil nine - Whoa mama. This one is half an hour of awesomeness. I find this to be the best epic, maybe even best song, that I've ever heard. All three sections are worthy of an ace. Always my pick for the best example of prog in a single song, even if part one doesn't flow with part two at all. Spectacular, spectacular! 10/10.

All in all, a fantastic album that was my first introduction to ELP. I was hooked right away and I'm still hooked now. An easy pick for a masterpiece, an easy pick for ELP's best.
