DEPOIS DO FIM

You have to admire Bacamarte's patience and savviness - holding back their debut album for four years or so to wait until the music scene was once again receptive for progressive music of the type they perform here, and then unleashing it on an unsuspecting public. There are plenty of bands who recorded a single album in the 1970s and then shut it in a vault for some years to release it a bit later, and I've been underwhelmed by many of them - often they weren't released for a reason. Not so Bacamarte, whose seamless fusion of Yes-influenced progressive rock with the folk music of their native Brazil is absolutely charming. This time around, you can believe the hype: Depois Do Fim is magical.
