OLIAS OF SUNHILLOW

Yes was (and is) a great influence in my life. I spent most of the 70's in H.S. and college, and progressive rock was my salvation. Groups such as Yes, Rush, and Genesis made my life growing up in Buffalo, NY a lot more sane. Having said that, I was always reluctant to delve into solo projects by members of my favorite groups - I liked them as groups! Olias of Sunhillow however was one of the most rewarding and satisfying solo albums I ever purchased. It is a story; timeless, fluid, spiritual, complex, relaxing, other-worldly and oddly fascinating - my kids loved it growing up. I painted many rooms in my house with this album playing in the background. I wore out one copy and bought another. It's one of those albums where you have to be in the right mood to listen to it and appreciate it fully. "To the Runner" and the musical notes and choir-sound that finish the album are very moving. The start of "Solid Space" is very cool. Jon Anderson's imagination and creativity has given me a wonderful musical experience for nearly 30 years now. One of my top 10 CD's because it is so unique to me and everyone who hears it for the first time.
