THE BEST OF MANFRED MANN'S EARTH BAND

A reasonable collection of the major and minor hits of Manfred Mann's Earth band up to 1999. There is nothing special or new contained here, and MANY of the tunes are single edits so don't expect the complete album versions of the originals. If I had to pick a collection highlighting the work of the Earth Band, I would choose many other titles (for instance: Visionary Mountains, Earth Hymn, and The Water of Babylon), but since this is basically a "greatest hits" collection, they probably don't really belong on this disc. Overall, a fair introduction to the career of MMEB for a novice. Anyone really interested in their better woirk should check out their albums from the 1970's. 3 stars
