FIREBALL

Fireball was conceived and produced at the height of this lineup's career, before the personal differences which manifested themselves during the Machine Head sessions started to destroy this incarnation of the band (notably the animosity between Gillan and Blackmore). This is probably the band's most progressive album, and certainly their most experimental. We would never again hear anything as out of character as "Anyone's Daughter" or as bold as the bass solo in "Fireball". Not their best, but close.
