An attempt from The Beatles and their producer George Martin on gaining new musical territory.

The idea of this soundtrack for the movie of the same name, was to make a side 1 with Lennon-Mc Cartney-Harrison songs; and a 2nd side with all instrumental pieces written by George Harrison for the movie.

The truth is that side 2 is too languid with long orchestration, which makes it boring.

And even side 1 doesn't show average Beatles' compositions to compensate side 2.

"Yellow Submarine" was originally released on "Revolver" but it is understandable its presence for obvious reasons.

Tracks 2, 3 and 5 only bring catchy and at some points corny tunes that don't fit with band's musical progression at that time.

Only "Hey bulldog" has some cool and not out of place groove to follow; and the born classic "All you need is love".

Definitively the weakest Beatles' work of their entire career.
