5 stars In the Court of the Crimson King is one of those albums that for me, is very hard to rate. Like Pink Floyd's Meddle, ItCotCK has some outstanding tracks that many consider the best of the prog genre. It also has tracks that are far from top quality. In KC's case, Moonchild is about 7 minutes too long. It's near silent drift is the low point and a big drag on the album. I Talk to the Wind is pleasant a best. 21st Century Schizoid Man is one of the early, very heavy tracks. Epitaph and the title track are stunning both musically and lyrically.

Two stunning tracks mixed a very good track and a couple of average ones, even with the terrifying but gripping album art, only make In the Court of the Crimson King a 4 star album.
