4 stars The second KCrimson live album was recorded in Asbury Park summer 1974 and captures the band at their absolute live peak and show perfectly how powerful and relentless this band was live with the Cross-Fripp-Wetton-Bruford line-up, especially on 'Larks Tongues Part II' and 'Schizoid Man' where the group dynamics really shine through. The improvised 'Asbury Park' blow is another high point here that shows the bands knack for jamming, and these improvisations was a standard feature in their shows from this time, and this track in particular is an excellent example of their funkier and tighter chops. The original vinyl is a bit short with only six tracks (three of them from Larks Tongues), but still an excellent representation of how this band sounded live in 1974 - much better than the bootleg sound quality of Earthbound, their first live album. The later CD remaster includes 'Fracture' and 'Starless' from the same show and is now the ultimate version of this concert. Highly recommended!
