5 stars Before Prog, Led Zeppelin was my favorite band (and still is definitely in my top 20).

Let me start by saying that the first side is perfect. Whole Lotta Love through Heartbreaker are just straight up classics that still sound good today. Nothing more can be said about Whole Lotta Love, because everybody else has done it for me. What is and What Should Never Be has a great contrast between light and shade that I really love. The middle section of the Lemon Song has one of the best bass performances ever. Jonsey isn't trying to show how fast he can play, he's just laying down one of the sickest grooves ever. Guitar solo in Heartbreaker. Nuff said.

Livin Lovin Maid is a nice little rocker, not too bad. Sadly, to me Ramble on is the lowpoint of the record. I know that many fans really love it, but to me its just average. Bonzo was truly one of the greatest drummers ever, as Moby Dick will no doubt show (try watching the whole drum solo from Earls Court). Finally, Bring it on Home ends this fabulous record with a kick-ass hard rock song.

5/5
