3 stars Post rock/jazz rock with an avantgarde feel, that is how I would try to describe the otherwise hard to describe music.

There are the long elegiac swelling sounds I already know from GY!BE or Sigur Ros, in which playfully intertwine trumpet, piano and violin. Often each instrument plays a different repetitive melody, slightly reminding me of minimal music. The mingled melodies create a complex sound tapestry.

The sometimes odd time signatures and the energetic drums make the music sound more powerful and heavier than post rock or minimal music. The strong use of trumpet and saxophone is responsible for the jazzy elements. Harmonic sound structures merge with noise structures and experimental improvisational sounding parts. The music is mostly instrumental, in which vocals are used sparingly.

All these ingredients create an exciting album, which needs several listenings to digest. Yes, I could be fond of tigers.

(Thanks to Plankowner for playing this album to me.)
