5 stars This one is very easy to review. The reason for this is quite obvious: it is so original, that You really have a lot to write about. I would really like to describe all the details, but since I don't have a whole night I will focus on just one aspect - why is Bateless Edge so annoying. And boy it is annoying!

I like to think of main stream music as a movement into 0 degrees direction - the most obvious and easiest way to go. Progressive music stands for everything that chooses less obvious paths. Most of the genre is therefore concentrated in around 90 degree's direction. There are some extreme bands (probably RIO/Avant ones) that place themselves in a 180 degree spot - total opposition to main stream (I love that!).

Frogg Cafe... well, to me they have gone even further. The occupy the 180+ range. Literally they pushed their complex music to the point, where they start to sound like amateur boys-band to a newcomer. But this is not true. Their music is very difficult and probably often misunderstood. When I first started to listen to Bateless Edge I didn't knew what to make of it. Some tracks, like for example "From the Fence", sounded ridiculous. Others, like "Pasta Fazeuhl" felt so dense and irritating that I couldn't reach the end without loosing attention. I was close to letting go, but I felt that I had to be sure: is this album that good or that bad? Then it quite suddenly started to fall into places. I realized that I'm on the other side of the circle. Now everything makes sense and I can honestly say: this is one hell of a mind-bending masterpiece. To anyone still in doubt: I hope You will find Your way to it, it's worth it.
