OLIAS OF SUNHILLOW

I thought that Jon Anderson's first solo from 1976 album was quite enjoyable. I am only 18, but I have a pretty good knowledge of music behind me from my past years of listening to a ton of music that my dad liked. I pretty much grew up with music from the 50's all the way through the 80's. But, this is among one album that I think stands out from the seventies. I call it the first of it's kind having a very early and primitive "New Age" feel to it. From the first time I heard it, I did not know what to think. I heard it at a very early age. I have grown to like it very much. This is one album for me that I can listen to the entire thing in one sitting. I also felt that it was quite a masterpiece and ahead of it's time, especially for that year. But I felt that Jon Anderson took a new direction for this album and I really thought he did a good job of doing that. I also enjoy "Yes" as well. I own all their LPs...including the very first one, which I enjoy. Between "Relayer" and "Going For the One", I think all the guys from Yes did a good job of putting out their first solo albums, such as "Fish Out of Water" by Chris Squire and "Beginnings" (1975) and later "The Steve Howe Album" by Steve Howe in 1979, and then there was Rick Wakeman's albums as well that were pretty good. I thought that "The Six Wives of Henry VIII" was very, very good...but that came out in 1973. I own the actual LP of Olias of Sunhillow and it is in good condition, I also own the solo LPs from the other Yes guys. And who could forget Bill Bruford ? Alan White replaced Bill Bruford in 1972-1973 during the "Yessongs" tour. He went to "King Crimson" at that time and then put out two albums himself later that I also own called "Feels Good To Me" and "One of a Kind". But, in the end, I thought that "Olias of Sunhillow" did more than satify me, it intrigues me as well.
