IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING

If you only get one King Crimson album, this is the one to get. They never topped their debut album, although they certainly covered a lot of new ground after this album. This is a perfect album. Every song is fantastic. I can't help but sing along to Epitaph, which is quite possibly the best song King Crimson ever came up with. The only complaint I have is that Moonchild went a bit overlong. I like hearing experimental improvisation as much as the next guy, but 10 minutes of keyboard noodling is a little bit too much for a 45 minute studio album. Still, this album is essential and gets 5 stars simply because of it's importance in progressive rock history, as well as its overall excellence.
