4 stars Not as good as "In a Glass House" but a close second. Gentle Giant are clearly gifted and adventurous but suffer from inconsistancy. "Octopus" has some classic moments and the Roger Deane gatefold cover made it a must have album at the time of it's release. Unfortunately, it contains a few filler tracks which fail to excite. Gentle Giant are the only prog band from which I have burned a personal best of CD. They are too good to ignore but need a bit of weeding. If you like Jethro Tull you might find some common ground in Giant's music.
