4 stars This is the type of album you'll lose interest in over time, but most of the music is top notch nonetheless. I'm going to assume everyone has a good idea about how Symphony X sounds like and I'll can the comparisons to other bands.

There's alot of contrast on this album. A few songs are very much melodic metal with some classical influence, and some others sound symphonic, much like their V album (including the epic 20 minute track of course). So it's kind of an interesting mix. But tracks like Pharoah kind of ruin the rest of the album. The strong points are spread out in specific moments in songs, mostly. Still worth buying for originality alone and virtuosity. Especially if you're a metalhead.
