3 stars Second best rated Supertramp album. After a masterpiece like Crime Of The Century and a strong follow up which was Crisis ? What Crisis ? ; there could be expect something good, maybe reaching even an excellent level. But this was not what happened, to some points of view (mine included), Even In The Quietest Moment was a dude. Letīs try to see why.

Supertramp is considered to be crossover prog band due to its proximity to pop issues. Even having good compositions, excellent songs structures and well made production which made them to be so well regarded among us, their poppy side was always like a shadow threatening the taste of a progressive music appreciator. Until Crisis ? What Crisis ?, they managed to keep poppy stuff in a low level, releasing admirable works. But unfortunately the changes to the new album were for worst, because what happened was a reinforcement of their poppy side. Best example of this we see in the hit Give a Little Bit , a song that all pop listener appreciates. Even a so well composed and performed song, a favorite of mine like From Now On has too much poppy characteristics.

Ok, the work has also strong material no one could be cold to a song like Foolīs Overture. This is why I easily consider this album good, but not essencial. I would expect another COTC or something at least close to it?
