MISTER GREEN

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the French ÄNGLAGÅRD! Having heard only one track from "Mister Green" on a prog radio, I was immediately knew I should get the whole album. And I was not disappointed -- this is what I was looking for since discovering ÄNGLAGÅRD -- rich in sound, extremely complex, and very emotional symphonic prog. Besides, TAAL is highly original -- I compare it to the Swedish band only because they keep to the same high standard with which ÄNGLAGÅR showed all the world at the beginning of the nineties that the prog was not dead yet. Every track on "Mister Green" is superb and highly enjoyable, but of course I especially like the lengthy dramatic pieces, such as 'Barbituricus', 'Flat Spectre' and 'Super Flat Moon'. There is even humour somewhere between the heavy riffs ... for example, the vocals singing "Where is Mister Green?" are exhilarating! And then there is somebody is apparently getting sick ... :-) I am certain, TAAL, if it resists all temptations of breaking up (and I just learnt the TAAL musicians are working on the third studio album, which is really encouraging!) is going to be one of the most important symphonic groups of modern times. So far its advent from France, which, excepting MAGMA, lacked very successful progressive bands, is a phenomenon! All those enjoying ÄNGLAGÅRD, do not pass TAAL! You won't hear mellotrons, but you will get the same quality and the same emotion! Five stars, no doubt!
