3 stars This album is Davis early release with line-up which bring him to his very innovative and experimental period. Shorter,Hancock,Carter and Williams besides of Davis himself sound as legend.

But this time still will come later. There Davis plays quite safe hard bop almost without visible traces of any revolution sound. All musicians are more then competent already, I especially like Hancock piano playing there, but all music is still too formal, too classic and to be honest doesn't stick with me (one of rare Davis album from any period!). Possibly it lucks emotional atmosphere.

Very professional, but a bit too cold and too safe album of late post-bop. Great release for genuine Miles Davis fans, has no interest for fusion lovers, not enough innovative or experimental for seekers of something different.

My rating is 3+.
