TRAFFIC

This album focuses alot more on Dave Mason that subsequent works would. Winwood and Capaldi still have about half of the songwriting credits though. This album introduces us to a less psychadelic, more folkish Traffic. How anyone could rate it under 4 stars is beyond me. Songs like "You Can All Join In" and "Feelin' Alright(?)" by Dave Mason as well as "Pearly Queen", "40,000 Headmen" and "Means To An End" by Steve Winwood and Jim Capaldi are all standard hits for the first phase of Traffic. Even Chris Wood gets a credit with Winwood and Capaldi on "Who Knows What Tomorrow May Bring". This album also has solid songs that never became hits. These would be "No Time To Live" with a hauntingly beautiful sax from Wood and smooth vocals by Winwood, and "Vagabond Virgin" with Wood on flute this time. Get the remastered CD and you can get the 3 best songs from LAST EXIT. This is probably the moist neccesary Traffic album to own after JOHN BARLEYCORN MUST DIE.
