4 stars If your into that Berlin School style of electronics that TANGERINE DREAM made famous, you need to check out REDSHIFT. They pay homage to that style but make it their own. They are a four piece led by Mark Shreeve, and he mastered and produced this live recording. I was thinking it would have been pretty cool to have experienced an electronic concert at least once. I can imagine these four guys on stage, sitting in front of their machines. It would have been unique. Rob Jenkins does add guitar, I believe on three tracks but it's a flavour as electronics dominate here.

This was recorded live at the Hampshire Jam Festival in Liphook, England on November 9th 2002. It was officially released in October of 2004. We get over 74 minutes worth of music over six tracks. And it's all good. It's just so easy to get lost in these sounds. They really do mix things up throughout this live show. Changing the mood and tempo often. I've said for years now that my favourite way to listen to electronics is when I'm moving. Like back in the day when I jogged or biked a lot. And especially when driving. We have some incredible scenery up here, from mountains, to lakes and rivers, beaches and on and on. And to have electronics as my soundtrack to the visual I'm witnessing has always been a joy to me.

So yeah, plenty of sequencers here but man these guys have a lot of equipment at their disposal. Electronic heaven. It's tough to pick a favourite as this is a very consistent album. I'd probably pick the self titled opener and the closer "Praetorian" which are also the two longest pieces on here. I just get such a kick out of this album. The windy synths, the mellotron-like sounds and on and on. So good! I never feel bored or feel like they are just on cruise control or winging it. I'd go as far to say that if your into the Berlin style I would grab anything you ever come across from this band.

Sadly Mark Shreeve passed in 2022, he was such a talent. Check out another electronic band he was in called ARC. This live record is a solid 4 stars in my world.
