THE ROXY PERFORMANCES

This expansive boxed set captures the Mothers' entire residency at the Roxy in Hollywood during December 1973 - plus rehearsals and a studio session from a bit later - and so captures performances which would form the backbone of the Roxy and Elsewhere album and associated other archival releases like Roxy By Proxy or Roxy the Soundtrack which dips into one segment or another of this. Here, though, you get the entire package, and hearing the full shows in context in their original running order adds a lot; I even find myself warming to the dance contest segments, which I hadn't expected going into this.
