3 stars Well, if your going to release just one album, 1973 is about as prime-time as it gets. ERLKOENIG was a four piece band out of Germany who had about a six year run, playing a lot of live gigs including opening for FRUMPY and ATOMIC ROOSTER. This is very much organ led, and in the symphonic style overall. Not as symphonic as NOVALIS as we get some krautrock leanings here at least. There's some vocals in english that are accented.

This was an album I tried and tried to get into but couldn't. I was surprised to see another reviewer say that the opener and closer are the worst two tracks on here, I agree, and that makes it tough. The track "Thoughts" at 9 1/2 minutes was part of a couple of various artists compilations back in the day, featuring psychedelic and krautrock songs. I prefer the instrumental "Blind Alley", in fact that track is the only one really to do much for me. That's why I'm not saying a lot here.

3 stars is all I got for this obscure recording. I'm not into the cover art either.
